The idea of primitive elements combining to create art, and the importance of relationships between elements, exists in visual art. The fundamentals of visual perception include color, light, location, texture, and shape. However, an artwork is not just a line here and other line there, or a splash of black ink in one corner of the picture and a patch of blue in another corner; a work of art goes beyond these.
